My 05 Liberty CRD with 112k miles has been getting stuck in 4wd this winter. If I shift the lever to 2wd, the light goes out on the dash, but it is still in 4wd for several days before it finally goes to 2wd. It was fine until we had another snow and I had to put it in 4wd again. The snow has melted, I put the lever back into 2wd, but it has been stuck in 4wd for the past 2 days. Where should I look for the problem? |

check the tire pressure. on a 242 the lever pushes a spring which pushes a gear. if there's any variation - front to rear - the gear won't move. tire pressure - wear - size variation.... (there can also be the cable that's connected to the transfer case - out of position- someone mentioned adjusting it - but don't remember the thread) |

Back up and at the same time wiggle the steering wheel back and forth. X2 on the air in the tires. |
