| Post subject: | Frankenlift install issue |
So, I installed my Frankenlift yesterday and I ended up with 3.25" of lift in the front, and 2.25" of lift in the rear. Looks kinda wierd now. What can I do about this? |

Like we have all kept saying...Any lift out there needs to settle a litte. Go wheel the crap out of it and it will settle in very nice. This is not an issue. We have had guy freaking out about this for a week or so and then come back and say...sorry it settled in not an issue anymore. later...Clint |

Go out and hit some good bumps in the road and dips. Dips work the best. If it was me I would go and and tie something really heavy to my tow hooks for a couple of nights. I lift weights so that would work nicely! It took my rear OME coils forever to settle. I bought the front used and had to buy the rear new and it was noise down for along time, looks great now! |

I was a little suprised when my Frankenlift had the same effect . . . hit the roughest roads I could find around Houston for a awhile and have put nearly 1000 miles on it now . . . I has settled a little bit, but my rear is still sagging approx. .5 to .75 inches. I recommend waiting a while to settle and then if it's still an issue contact All J's, they've been very helpful! Installed frankenlift about a month or so ago and increased front 4 1/2 inches and rear 3 inches, the strip on the doors in about level. Am thinking about adding 2 rubber spacers to rear. Should I wait longer for settling or do you think it has settled? The cv angle is no problem in front and would like to have the rear wheel well space more equal to the front. Also where is the best place to obtain the rear spacers, if I go that route. thanks! |

| Post subject: | How to CORRECTLY measure your Frankenlift front/rear height |
Hi all, This seemed like a good place to post this -- it's just informational since we get calls asking how to measure from time-to-time. 1) DO NOT measure from the hub to the fender flare OR from the ground to the fender flare. The fender flares are not symetrical and you will NOT get an accurate measurement this way. (BTW this is a common mistake!) 2) DO measure from the pinch weld. Measure from the front of the pinch weld and then measure from the rear of the pinch weld. The measurements should match or be VERY close. 3) If you have Boulder Bars, or another company's bars, installed on your KJ, measure from the bar to the ground. (We obviously won't guarantee another company's rails will be straight from front to back, but we will are confident that our KJ Boulder Bars will give you an accurate measurement.) Also note: KJs usually come from the factory a little higher in the rear. Once we lift a KJ with a Frankenlift, we get the KJ to be even front-to-rear (using the measuring guide above). Otherwise if you go too high in the rear, you will overtax the rear "wishbone" balljoint. We've really done our homework on this lift - just trust us, we won't steer you wrong. |

NO WAY...get it done right away. When I was driving home after putting it in, i was toe in enough that my ride felt unsafe and real wobbly. I got a front end aligned yesterday for $37 including tax. Now it drives nice, and doesnt feel like my front end is going to tip over in a turn. IMO get the alignment done, and in a few months or so, get it done again. my $0.02... |

For under $40.... getting the alignment done right away and again after it settles is a good idea. Thanks, Nate! |

When I installed my Frankenlift, I did the "rough alignment" - loosen the jam nuts on the tie rods, turn the tie rods 1 turn out, and then tighten the jam nuts. I ran this way for about 1 month (about 1,000 miles), and then had a professional alignment done. This method worked well for me. The KJ was squirrelly before the rough alignment. The rough alignment made the KJ drive fairly OK, and the tires showed no wear. Deboy922 |
