I'm trying to reconnect the LBJ's to the lower control arm. I got about 2 turns in before the threads started turning. It seems the joint needs to be in the control arm before that will stay in place. How do I do that?

I usually put a jack under the lower control arm and raise it up to seat the taper in the arm. I've also used a ratchet strap to pull the upper and lower control arms to each other.

Aron is right just through a jack under it and jack it up till it seats makes life extremely simple.

Actually tried both of these. Busted the strap handle in the process. I couldn't seem to get enough leverage with the jack before the Jeep came off the stands. I'll try again though.

The top of the joint it made to put a wrench on it so you can hold the ball joint while tightening the nut..

Loosen the UCA nut off a bit and jack it up again until it falls believe me it will it may even help to give the knuckle a few solid taps with a sledge hammer. Just make sure you have atleast a 2 and a half ton jack under it if not bigger.
