Girlfriends '06 Liberty Renegade has the check engine light on. Also the Skid,ABS lights on. The skid/ABS was the passenger rear wheel speed sensor plug. Had a broken wire in the plug, bought replacement and it is good now. Engine light is on still and I cannot get my code reader to work. Comes back with an a not connected code or something like that. ( Don't remember exact phrase.) My code reader works on an '02 Liberty and '02 Silverado so I am guessing it is not the problem. I was told to check the fuse and it was good. Anyone else have this problem? I keep trying searches and keep coming up empty. Perhaps I am not using the right keywords,I don't know. '06 Liberty Renegade 3.7 auto. |

No code reader needed on the liberty, as there are on board diagnostics. Turn the key on, off, on, off, and on again, and it'll give you the code readout where your odometer is. Google the code, and your good to go. Pretty handy! Sometimes it takes a few cycles of running the jeep for a while for the CEL to turn off even if the problem is fixed. |

If you have ABS codes, most people have not had luck pulling the codes with anything but the dealer scantool. |

Tried that and it does not work for me. Tried it a few hundred times to. |

I did find something about removing the fuse, turning the Jeep to the on position ( Do not start) and it should reset itself. |

Well she took it took an auto store and they used their scanner. Came back as both O2 sensors need replaced. Still not sure why my scanner does not work in her Jeep but does other ones. |

When I need to read a code I take it to O'Reileys Auto Parts (formerly Schucks) and borrow theres, then clear the code at the same time. Right now my '06 Lib gasser in in the shop having the engine rebuilt (this Jeep has 47,000 miles...) and the shop, which has been around since 1947 or something rediculous told me they had to ovbernight some module or something in to download to their scanner to make it read the Jeeps computer. They had just "upgraded" their reader sytem the week befiore and it rendered their equipment unable to read my codes for a day. |
