Ok second time this guy has put a factory type drive shaft and more than enough greaase to fill a shot glass, probably two has came out to stick to my skids and my underside... Obviously the boot is shotty... but he says its normal to see this. Prove him wrong friends, please...

No, it's definitely NOT normal.

The grease should be contained within the boot on the rear of the driveshaft (transfer case end). You need a new CV on that end if you're seeing grease.

Thought so, time for a new mechanic. As a 70\30 On\off road Jeep how have the U joint shafts held up? Bad vibes as I understand it... Would like to keep my 85 mph cruising speed ;)

Many thanks coyote

How long do they hold up?
I have replaced mine once in 172,000 miles if that help
and yes there should be no grease coming out of the front drivesahft
Do it yourself and save money and have it done right

Oh wait you asked about "ujoint" driveshafts for the front
wouldn't run one so not sure but if you don't grease them then not long

Depends on where it is coming out, if installed properly there is no way for it to come out unless there is a tear in the boot itslf , maybe damaged when installed or ???

Ive been running a U joint driveshaft up front for about 6 months. I felt a little vibration when i put it in but nothing lately. Maybe im used to it. Whenever I hit the interstate im always doing 70-80 and its nothing that you would notice unless you are looking for it.

We have a custom made U joint front drive shaft as well and zero problems or vibrations from it.
