Post subject:  Swapping RRO OTT for RockFather

I have just gone through ANOTHER set of Rancho struts...YARRRR!!! The problem lies withing Rocky Road Outfitters's OTT spacer kit. I called Rocky Road and complained about the 2.5" OTT kit. The guy on the phone admitted that the lift "is not the best lift for the Liberty." This contradicts what they say on their site. :D He offered me the entire front suspension set-up with the RockFather kit for $120 (this is the price for the cost of the hardware, so there is no profit being made by RRO). I called All J (the nicest people) and they offered me the Frankenlift front for $490. The Rockfather is the same setup as the Frankenlift (OME Springs and spacers). I hated doing it, but I went with RRO. I really couldn't beat the price. I love the GREAT people at All J, but I can't afford another $500. All J is a great company. They went into detail about how I can fix my problem and other options that I could take other than their own company. That, my friends, is how how a company SHOULD be run. So, in conclusion, I will give RRO ONE MORE CHANCE. At least it looks like they are realizing the problem with the OTT kit and trying to offer some compensation for it. Still, I wish I could have gone with All J.

Good luck to all of you with the RRO OTT kit!

I will Keep saying this...The Rockfather and the Frankinlift are not the same at all. They do not have the same parts, the ride is not the same, the lifts are not the same heights, ect, ect... later...Clint

I have the RRO OTT lift. It is sitting on the floor in my garage. Now, its the Frankenlift, and I will do everything I can to avoid making purchases from RRO. IMHO, they are deceitful in their advertisements, and many of the same products can be gotten from more reputable vendors. GL with the RockFather. I hope things work out for you.

It just kills me that RR keeps telling folks that they have never had a complaint...when we see folks that called them and complained with almost every single OTT kit out there from this forum. For them to still sell this kit is just down right WRONG. Man I wish I had a dollar for every strut and front coil this kit has destroyed... Later...Clint

I pulled out my OTT kit and threw it in the trash as well. I did buy the rockfather II as well I like it and it actually looks likes it an inch taller than my old OTT kit. I have had bad luck with RRO, I ordered the rock rails from them and the mounting plate was welded on upsidedown. They said this was not possible, my guess is that it was made early one day after drinking. I had it fixed locally rather than shipping it back.

Anything that is better than the OTT I'm happy with! I know the RockFather is not exactly like the Frankenlift, but I'm saving $300. I can live with that.

Yep, the Rockfather 2 lift is fine. Mine has been on 11/2 years and no probs until just lately when I replaced the rear shocks. Good lift otherwise.

I would have taken a photo of the rock rail and sent it to them as evidence to the contrary. Then I would have had them send me a correctly manufactured one prior to my returning the one with the problem. But thats just me - I'm the kind of person that can admit when I've made a mistake and expect the same from others (not that I see it that often).

Whoever I talked to when it happened sounded like they really didn't care anyway, I hope that person is no longer there for other peoples sake. They said I was putting them on wrong, I said they only go on one way. It was still less of a hassle for me to just fix. It didn't cost anything to have fixed, the guy who put them on was really cool about it.
