| Post subject: | Vibration Between 50-65 MPH |
Hi Everyone, First off, any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Every time I am driving between 50-65 MPH their is a vibration. I do not know where the vibration is coming from. I have gotten a 4-wheel alignment, and a 4-wheel tire rotation. Since the alignment and rotation did not help, I then got my tires balanced. After being balanced their was no vibration for a couple of days but then came back. I have 53,000 miles. Once again any help would be great!! Thanks, Scott |

i had the same problem with my TJ now with no tire mounting and balancing skills i will try to explain the fix when they balance tires they most times only put weights on the out side and 99.9% of the time this is fine but for that .1% you are basicaly s.o.l. how ever it can be fixed when they spin the tires on the machine it has several settings one of wich will alow them to balance the center line with glue down or stick on weights they stick to the middle of the rim so now insted of just two plains the tire is balaced in three it fixed mine when i got new tires should work old or new now i do have some bad news if you have been offroad and if there is a chance that your drive shaft took a hit then that could be what is causing the vib and if it just croped up and the tires were fine befor then i would look at that to check and see if the drive shaft was hit look for a good scratch in the rust or a dent maby even a counter weight that may not be there any more its not that big a deal if you find some thing just pull the shaft bring it to a shop that can balace and repair drive shafts and they will fix you up while you are at it let them put new u-joint in the shaft i tweeked the front on the TJ and they replaced 2 u-joints and fixed the shaft in and out $120(they pulled the shaft) |

My KJ vibrated at the same speeds and just got worse. They told me it was all kinds of things but nobodu ever checked my universal joint. Turns out thats what it was and it ruined my fromt drive shaft also. A 20 dollar replacement turned into $350. Check the U joint, that may be it. |

Thanks everyone for your help. The last time that I got my tires balanced was with a new type of balancer. They called it a "Roadforce"?? I think that I will be checking my u-joints and drive shaft this evening. Thanks again for all of your help. I really appreciate it. Scott |

had the same problem with the wife's last car and after having everything rotated/rebalanced/checked/etc, the vibration was still there. i went to rotate the tires (this time i did it in the driveway) and when i pulled the front tire off i saw that the actual belts of the tire had separated, causing a bulge in the tread. the tires balanced fine but every time that section of tread hit the ground, it would cause the vibration sad thing is the kid that re-balanced all four tires never noticed it. so check the tread all the way around the tire if you have exhausted all other possibilities |

Scott, you can come over on Saturday and we can put my old tires/wheels on. That should either rule in or out the tires and wheels. Let me know if you want to give it a shot. -Fred |

Did you guys ever figure out what this was?? I have a weird vibration from about 45-60 mph's, but it feels more like something is loose nad "ticking" more than a vibration factor? My gf says she feels it on the passenger side...thinking it might be strut issues but have no idea....? |
