Post subject:  More lift, less rubbing! Questions.....

My current setup is a 2inch BDS with bilsteins all the way around and 3 inch terra flex bumpstops. I'm running 16x7 soft 8s with 4.5 inches of back spacing with 245 75 r16 duratracs. My front height is currently 20.5 (which I think is low???) I believe I was at 21.5 after installing the lift...

I'm rubbing on the fog light door and pinch weld area on the inner well plastic. (pinch weld already pounded) I called marlin and talked to him but would like some other opinions..

JBA told me to look at my top plate bolts where they go through the body in the engine compartment. I have about 1 inch of full bolt stick through or about 1/2 an inch above the nut. He recommended 2 1/4 top plates per side for a total of 1 inch lift. I also planned on doing a 3/8 Clevis lift in the front. And adding 1 1/2 inch upper iso in the back per side. ( note: my rear sitts higher then the front)

Does this sound like a good setup? Any thing to add or take out? I don't want to get to much lift to worry about modding my Cvs or anything.

Also I had trouble bottoming the cylinder out before I got bumpstops... I wanna stay away from that situation!! From what I understand all these boosts will not change my original travel between the two original plates... Will i have more likely of a chance to overcompensate the cylinder before i hit the bumpstops?

I hope I made that clear and didn't leave anything out. By no means am I a mechanic or gear head. I limp my way through most of these mods :ROTFL:

Ps. Mudd ur advise is certainly welcome!!!!!!!!

Well now
Couple of things to consider here
First you have a little more than an inch lift which is causing you problems with the tire size and backspacing you currently run.
Now the cheaper way is to install two extra top plates per side etc ( if you have enough space/threads exposed )as you have said. The problem with going that direction is that it is a band aid fix. The springs will continue to sag and in no time you'll be down another inch.
I would look at what this band aid approach will cost you now and how long it will last -vs- replacing the springs and shocks in front with OME or Ironman and starting over basically. Yes more expensive but in the long run a cheaper and better alternative if you plan to keep the KJ for a longer time .
Just something to think about .
I would assume that you may have caused some damage to your front shocks before you installed the bumpstops which also will speed up the sagging of the springs.
Just some thoughts, think it over and ask more questions / comments etc .
If you need help head west  I'll try and help you out!! :ROTFL:

I've only had this lift on for a year now. I started out at 18.5 so I got 2 inches from where I was..I realize though the stock height for my year was 19.5 so I've really only gained an inch. I only bottomed out the struts once before I got the bumpstops. The seal seemed fine so I didn't worry about it.

I don't believe I need to replace my suspension this early? I feel like those bds springs shouldnt of sagged that fast with the specs on them. My jeep hasn't even been off road yet lol. I might jut do this setup to get enough lift to make it not run and presentable to sell. I'm interested in the crd. Then just get JBA's lift and be done. I plan to own a liberty forever, just might not be this one! Hate to say it but I don't use my liberty for much.. I drive back into a field to go hunting. And in winter with the snow in Ohio (which has been minimal).

Does all those boosts sound ok though? Should i do 2 1/4 inch plates on each side plus a Clevis? Maybe just last me till everything is shot including tires and go for a new setup...

It will work for a while like I said
with two 1/4 inch plates plus 3/8 inch clevis you'll get 1.75 inches of lift .
So that will help you for a while.
I wouldn't go over 3/8 inch clevis by the way
BDS are known to sag others have complained about them as well.
