LOST JEEPS :: View topic - 2004 Liberty Limited 2006 Liberty Renegade

I had a 2004 limited which I loved, but I just traded it in on a 2006
renegade. I have noticed several differences and I was wondering if
there were changes made besides ESP and body style? I have noticed it
sits higher up than the 04 and it gets better gas mileage. I also
noticed it is not as rough riding and the steering is more road trip
friendly. I have not tried it off road yet, but we will after we have
properly broken in the new engine.

Also does anyone know if you can add the upgraded engine cooling like
we did on the 04 so we can tow 5000lbs? They tried to move the
upgraded fan from the 04 to the 06 and it would not fit. They say they
can order one, but I am worried that maybe they stopped making that and
you have to get it from the factory with the upgraded fan? Is anyone
knowledgable about this?

Thanks, Cristina My '05 renegade has the upgraded fan, and thats when they changed the body style. I am 99% sure this can be done.

Did you keep the fan? Ill buy it off ya if you did. They changed the tranny also. Its a 42vlp tranny, 2004 had a 42re tranny. I dont know what the difference is but I believe its more of a "mini van" tranny. Ride height should be the same. It may be where its new and the 2004 springs had settled some.

I have a 05 sport and my buddy has a 04 liumited and mine sits 1 inch higher. We measured. I dont know what they did but it is a obvious change.
