I was wondering, of those who have a roof rack on their KJ's, have you seen a loss in gas mileage? Also, what brand (websites if you can) did you buy your roof rack from? Thanks!

I got mine from Overstock.com for $61.00 shipped.

If you do a search, there is a thread about the overstock rack.

As far as milage? not a difference, since I dont have cross bars and it is still sitting in my office.

mine is a yakima load warrior with yakima lowrider feet ,sks locks and 48 inch yakima crossbars,i bought everything from REI its the only place that stocks yakima in my area. its on a 05 renny and it doesnt seem to make any noise? doesnt seem to effect the crappy gas milage, its a weekend toy for us so im not sure what effect it would have on daily driver but it has a fairing ang is pretty open design ,hope this helps ya

I have Garvin's Wilderness rack, along with mounts for a Hi-Lift, shovel and 4 piaa off-road lights (got it all from RRO). Hard to say just how much it affects my mileage, as I was doing everything within a couple weeks of each other. I vary from about 15mpg around town to over 22mpg on the highway (as long as I keep it under 65).

I have the BVG adventure basket. Got it from overstock.com for 59 bucks and then made my own crossrails out of flat steel stock. Fuel economy took a big hit (bigger than it took with the tires), and I swear I can even feel more wind resistance through the steering wheel. The Jeep seems to handle a little differently now with this basket on top. Plus it's loud as **** at highway speeds. I am either going to get a Yakima wind fairing for the front of it, or take it off completely...one of the two.

it cost me 300 for basket close to 300 for feet, crossbars plugs for crossbars and sks locks, and around 35 for stretch net, all total about 700 give or take a couple bucks, ya i know way to costly but its well worth it!! all the other stuff from yakima can mount right to the basket also and the fairing flips down forlong stuff, my wife almost shot me when i told her what i paid!!! and those renegade decals didnt come like that i had them made, i have seen others on here to like that, i belive there is someone who knows but i think that theres a company called motor city decals? cheap prices too

Use Pixeldzn, he can get them made in any color and size. I've heard some bad things about motor city decals.
