2002 Liberty, 19,500 miles on it, 2700 miles since installation of 2.5" lift. It looks like I now have a problem in the right side of the front differential. I hear a wah-wah noise that is loudest near the right side of the front differential thats frequency increases with speed. I tested it by lifting the left tire off the ground and turning it, by hand, as fast as I could, no sound, I then lifted the front right tire off the ground and turned it as fast as I could and I hear the sound. As my son turned the right tire, I got under the Jeep with the old screwdriver to the ear trick and the sound was loudest where the right CV shaft enters the area of where I guess the carrier bearing would be. Do you think the lift could have caused this problem? Sounds like a warranty repair to me but I'm afraid I'll get problems from the dealer because of the lift.

they should warrenty it. do you have signs of any offroad dmg? only things that should really be void on lift is the shocks and springs.

take it in and see what they say. sounds like maybe a ball bearing.

I've only been down a few dirt roads hunting since I purchased this Jeep. I would say it is babied (spelling?) like hell. I could see them point to CV's and U-joints too, but not the differential bearings.

Wash it like crazy, then take it in and see what they say.

Call them first and do not let them know your phone numer. Call from a pay phone. Ask them if they would care about a lift when replacing cv joint's, bearing's, all that crap. Then take it to them. Be sure to get the guys name incase he turns on you. If he does, follow him around when it gets dark and have at him with a good sized stick!
