Post subject:  daystar lift installed

Hello I got around to installing my lift and had a question about the rear end.It seem's to sag alittle and I am wondering if it is due to me not changing the stock coil's.Does anyone know?

I'm not expert but the stock coils are probably the problem. Got any pics of it. How does it look?

You have to define "sag". You mean front end higher ? Add some rear upper isolators. Did you leave the rear stock bottom pads on???

Any pics???

So, just put the rubber spring isolators back in and you should be good to go. If you need more height add a pair of upper isolators.

Where can I get the isolaters?

You'll get an inch by putting the bottom pads back on and adding upper isos, They are $10 per pad at the dealer.

Did your front have spacer plates along with the poly puc???

The daystar lift is just a spacer lift right? How is the ride compared to stock? It seems like an affordable way to lift, and affordable is good.

How much was it, if I may ask? And did you get shocks also? I have wondered about getting the 2" rear, 1.5" front to start off with just because of the price.

$219 shipped to the door and I used the factory shock's and struts. You can't beat the kit for the price and the ride quality is awsome much better than expected.Installation was also pretty easy although I work at a jeep dealership so I had some help from one of the tech's.

How does the ride quality change when the shocks/struts are stock and they are just spacers??

It's almost always worse. Think about it...your just making the Jeep taller. Better ride comes from replacing the coils front and rear, struts, and shocks (specifically the last two). Replacement struts and shocks like Rancho's are a huge improvement over stock components...being that they are made for a lifted KJ. These sort of high quality components not only help with articulation offroad but vastly improve handling on-road. My Frankenlift made my KJ's handling better than stock so much that it hardly feels like it's been lifted when turning. Spacers, guarenteed, will not give you these results. Only get spacers if you can't afford better. I'm not degrading those who can't afford better lifts, I'm just trying to show the huge difference between a real lift (replacing stock components with better ones) and a spacer lift (adding a piece of plastic).

Dude asked: "How does the ride quality change when the shocks/struts are stock and they are just spacers??"

With stock Jimmy-Jammy's and a taller stance, I noticed weird movement in cross winds.

You ain't compressing or stretching the coils so it rides the same with a spacer lift. The shocks are making the diff.

I know with the same lift, I went from stock size reflex in the rear to the Durango size "beef" and it made a huge diff then too.

I went to the longer rear because I had top out to often with one wheel off the ground. The Durango size is Huge compared to the stock size.

You can only get "articulation" till stuff either way.

The ride quality on my 02 was the same as before I lifted it. But later (2 weeks) I did change the shocks and struts .was told it would be better in the woods. It did ride more like a car (more musher )bumps were tamed some. But now I need longer bumper stops.

the ride quality on the street is just fine, no complaints at all. I hope to do some offroad within two weeks. The isolator pads for the rear should be re-installed with the Daystar or you will only get 2" lift rather that 2.5". I would love to get a Frankenlift one day but this Daystar lift is a great cure to the grocery getter image. The moabs and MTRs help too!
