So i made a bumper for my gas kj 2 years ago and plopped a 8k winch on it and now my front springs are shot. i hit bump stop on the smallest cracks in the road :banghead: . I only have a taraflex spacer kit and stock springs. i ordered iron man diesel springs and rugged ridge stock height struts. I Wheel just about every other weekend, slow crawling on rocks no harsh impacts. I want to keep my front high without sacrificing what little IFS flex i have. do you guys think that diesel springs with a 1.5 lift on stock height struts will have to much pre-load and ride rough

For one I would use better shocks, stay with OME, Bilstein or the Ironman
The CRD springs should fit the bill with the extra weight of the bumper and winch
I run OME 790s (CRD) on mine in front, have for over 57,000 miles

So I ended up going with the iron man springs on rock ridge struts and it rides 100 times better now that it is all broken in. I have 2600 miles on it so far. I got a lot more lift then i thought out of it so the same day i got it done i orderd some 33s to fill the wheel wells. It only rub when I turn sharp in reverse. Now I just need to level the back with the front :P .

Did you order 4.10s yet
should of really went with better shocks as well

I hope you threw away that spacer lift and didn't reuse it along with the new springs

sorry but just being honest

The cv's can't handle the height of the lift plus spacers

Too high for the CVs,
will wear out the front shocks/springs faster due to over compressing them
all together its not a good combination
If you want it to last you better start over
just the Ironman springs and if you want more a 1/4 inch top plate and 3/8 inch clevis is all
that will net you 3.75 inches of lift and no CV issues etc

Trust us, its been tried by a few ( even after being told it wouldn't work) but who thought they would show us it could, never good results

Hope you didn't buy new tires

oh ok. the spacer lift is not a daystar style lift, it bolts on the top of the strut mounts and extends them 2 inches. I did machine the axles down 3/8in in my shop when I pulled them out. i dont have any vibration in 4 wheel peel but i will check them for play when i get home. Thanks for the help! What is the fender height at 3.75in?

oh and yes i did re gear to 4.56 back when I went to 31s because i tow either my boat or my other jeep quite a bit and live in the mountains. (2700ft elevation difference in my 18 mile drive to work)

Doesn't matter if it is a Daystar or any other spacer style lift, all the same
it's still going to cause issues with the springs
fender height for a 3.75 inch lift is 22.75 middle of wheel to bottom of flare

Didn't know you had swapped out the D30a for a steel front diff in it

The lift you have is the same one I use for a door stop in the garage
guy gave it to me after he went through 2 sets of UCAs in less than 9 months
running that exact lift, also had springs / shocks replaced 3 times
finally gave up sold me the ARB bumper for a couple of hundred bucks and gave up trying to have a lifted Liberty. That was back in 2005. I knew better though

From what I know from past "experiments"
and how the Ironman are after install plus the 2.5 inch spacer and the way it looks
My guess is 24.25

Your Jeep looks kinda nice with no front fender flares! Is that your cherokee too in the background?
