I just got home from trying to get a front end alignment on my Jeep. Got my Duratracs on yesterday and badly needed an alignment since my old tires had camber wear to the outside worse than anything Ive ever seen. So after an hour the guy comes out and tells me the tie rods are seized and he cant finish. Says all my suspension is rusted out and corroeded. I walk out and have him show me. There isnt anything but light surface rust. I can post a picture if it helps. Anyone else have this issue before? I just dropped $2500 on the jeep over the last two days and dont want to buy new tie rods if its not absolutely necessary. Any fixes for this? He put a blow torch to it and penetrating oil.

I've ran into that same issue on many vehicles.Even heating them up with a torch will not free them.Either start soaking them with PB Blaster 5-6 times a day for a few days or install new inner/outer tie rod ends, the only real fix.

If you do it yourself it's what ever the new inner/outer tie rod ends will run you.You will need to cut the inner tie rod ends from the outer to remove.Expect a few hundred $$$ at a shop.
