I have a prelowered 2002 KJ and I will install a ARB front bumper with warn winch, complete skid plate package and the steel rear ARB like rear bumper when available . I have ordered a skyjacker 2.5 lift and wondered which shocks I should use, their hydro or stiffer nitros given the extra weight I'll be adding ? I would rather a little too stiff than a little too soft especially since I tow a lot during the summer . I understand that the prelowered 2002 will actually be lifted 3.5 " with their 2.5" kit so this begs the question, is this true and is anyone having cv problems, or any other issues for that matter ? |

It's the springs that you should be getting stiffer, not the shocks. Shocks will keep it from bouncing around like crazy, but the pre-loaded weight of the arb is all about getting heavy duty springs. Quote: I would rather a little too stiff than a little too soft especially since I tow a lot during the summer . Definitely go for heavy-duty springs. Not sure how many kits actually let you pick which springs you want, but I think the OME kit does (and by proxy, I suppose the frankenlift) Quote: I understand that the prelowered 2002 will actually be lifted 3.5 " with their 2.5" kit so this begs the question, is this true and is anyone having cv problems, or any other issues for that matter ?
That depends. Are you getting a spacer lift or a spring lift? If you get a spacer lift, yes, you will be an inch higher than a normal spacer-lifted liberty (same amount of "lift" but a higher resulting height, and yes that will be a problem with the CV angle.) But if you are getting a spring lift (which you should, especially if you are getting an ARB), you are replacing the longer "pre-lowered" factory springs with the lift-kit springs, so you'll end up with LESS lift than if you were post-lowered, and the same total height as another lifted liberty. Meaning that if you measure before and after, you might only get 1.5" improvement, but you'll be the same height as a post-lowered liberty that installed the same kit, since you'll both have the exact same components now. Does that make any sense? |

My truck will look exactly like yours including roof rack unless I decide to paint a different color which i am considering . I have the ARB, locker, Skyjacker Kit, 265 75 16 Trxux MT tires on 16 X 8 Mickey Thompson Polished wheels, rock rails etc.. on the way . How much actual lift did you get and what is the driveability compared to stock ? thanks , robert |

Robert, unless Skyjacker has front springs that are the equivelent to CRD springs (which are to my knowledge the heaviest spring available for a KJ at the present time) you are going to start sagging bigtime in a few months with the weight of the ARB and winch. I added Rusty's H.D. front springs to my front and they held up for about a year. Now I'm going to try a 2.5" Daystar front spacer puck and Daystar strut plates with a set of stock CRD coils to try to support the ARB/winch. Even the Frankinlift W/H.D. OME coils won't support the weight of a CRD, so they won't support an ARB W/winch either. You may want to rethink the Skyjacker Lift Kit for an ARB/winch combo. |

Mine is just fine. No more sag than any other kit. |

You also don't have a winch on your ARB which pushes the weight to about 210 lbs. hanging out over the front end.... Believe me, it will start sagging, especially when you really start working the suspension off-road. My rig also weighs in at 4,860 lbs., add me to it and it's over 5,000lbs. working on the suspension and most of that weight is in the front end. |

Jenny Craig I've heard the synthetic winch line doesn't hold up well in wet muddy conditions not to mention the cost factor for it. |
