Post subject:  Daystar REPLCAEMENT time

My 2007 Liberty is approaching 90k miles...the suspension is "lacking" in strength.
So background fast forward to *** line if you don't care....
Bought in early 2009....lost my job in 2010 and started a new company vs working for someone else. Well if you ever started your own business, you know money dries up fast. Especially if you create the company out of need vs. want. One of the first things to cut in the budget after cable, phones and eating out is car "fun stuff."
I have kept up with required maint only, but can finally play a little as my company has grown... so here I am:
*****************************************

I currently have a daystar spcer lift with all factory (and original) shocks/struts and springs. It is time to replace everything. I cannot afford the http://jeepinbyal.com/tommudd-s-econo-3 ... it-kj.html (it is just a NOT gonna happen expense) but don't want to just buy replacement OEM crap. So my question/needs:
1) Replacement MUST be at a minimum equal or greater lift than the Daystar when it was put on (About 2-1/2" at 50K miles ish)
2) Must be "bolt on." I have tools and the ability, but no time for fabrication of brackets/mounts.
3) Would prefer being able to buy piece by piece rather than a 1 chunk buy, but that is negotiable.
I have considered the Frankenlift off and on, but the $1200 (approx) withdrawl throws it into the same issue as the tommudd_econo above...

I know this gets beat to death, and i have read/searched as much as i can. To be honest the more i read the more i get confused about what to buy. I also understand cheap is not good, and good is not cheap. I just want to not spend more than is "needed," I only offroad mildly and do not need a super trail system. It is mostly aesthetic with slight function

Buy the Ironman lift , its a good lift, good prices, you can buy say front springs one week, front shocks next week etc
with some extras you can have from 2.25 inches with just springs to 3.5 inches with clevis and top plate in front and extra isos in the rear
Ride is as good as OME, tested it personally on mine so I know how it rides for sure
If looking for cheaper then its the way to go, just install the springs and shocks for a 2.25-2.50 inch lift and enjoy a munch improved ride both on and off road

Sorry I disagree, the Ironman lift has a terrible reputation down here for sagging and needing replacement within 18 months. Suggest Old Man Emu for long term retention of height and offroad strength.

Well everyone has an opinion
If they don't work out long term we shall find out

I see you're running Stu's springs and not OME
How do you like them? Heard good things about his

I lifted my jeep for right under 650 best money I've spent so far on my Jeep. I did OME coils and Bilstein shocks all around. Ride is 10x better and I know the parts I got will last a good amount of time. Check 4x4connection out they were having a sale on OME think its still running, my opinion is its cheaper to peice the lift together than buy a complete lift kit. Best of luck!

Yeah, I runs CRDSTU's kit and it's worked well for me for several years now. I knew Stu when he was just another KJ CRD owner and trying to sort out his own suspension. He got so frustrated that he quit his day job and started up his own business. He get's his springs custom made by King Springs (the same factory that makes the OME springs). Stu started out as just another KJ CRD owner and started building stuff for them, mainly suspensions, fitting snorkels etc; and now he has a massive shop with hoists and fitting bays and is very busy with the new Grand Cherokees as well. I've run his suspension over tens of thousands of kilometres of outback corrugated tracks, a couple of Jeep Jamborees, the Simpson Desert and Cape York and never had a problem and they have yet to sag at all. BTW he did use OME shocks in the past, but with his sticker over the OME label. Not sure if he is gettting the shocks custom made now or still using OME. He's also building JK Brute pickup truck conversions now and the business just keeps getting bigger - good luck to him.

I am running the full Ironman lift from JeepinbyAl, 1/4" top plate, no extra ISO in the rear. I am sitting at 20.5" in the front, and 21-3/8" in the rear. Also have the JBA UCA's. Best decision I have made on a suspension. Now that it has settled in, I am doing a 3/8" clevis this weekend to level out the front. The ironman suspension is awesome. It rides better than factory, it corners and brakes better, and for a lot less than the dealer would charge for OEM. JMHO

Stu had posted about his springs when he set them up and I tried to order a set - but it cost more to ship them from Oz than the cost of the springs
then about a month or so later - OME came out with CRD springs and I got those.
stock was 410lbs/in, OME500 lbs/in and Stu's 465 lbs/in - he wanted to smaller wire because it had less likelyhood of coil bind, better articulation.

I didn't realize that started his business - but I do know he spend a lot of effort into getting everything right.

Tom (sorry to repeat) but i "think" i found the parts...

JBA STRUT SPACER PLATE SET (1/4")
http://jeepinbyal.com/jeep-liberty-kj/f ... e-set.html
KJ IRONMAN 1.5" SPRING LIFT KIT
http://jeepinbyal.com/jeep-liberty-kj/l ... t-kit.html
KJ REAR LOWER COIL SPRING ISOLATOR
http://jeepinbyal.com/jeep-liberty-kj/r ... lator.html
Clevis 3/8"

This is where i get confused....
A) adds up to 2-1/8"? I don't doubt you, just not seeing where the other 7/8" is?
B) Would you recommend any other bushings, Iso's, hardware etc be replaced while i have it apart?

Need upper rear iso's not lower
You get more than 1.5 inches from the springs
Teraflex front bumpstops

One option is to leave the rear with the spacer and just focus on the front. Mines been like that since it had air bags in the back inside the springs I've yet to dig in to it. Rides fine, but will prob be a decent improvement when I rod the back...most of the value is in the front and I would do that well to start if funds were low.
