Hey all,
I'm in a KK with a 4 inch JBA lift, but I figured this question is relevant for the KJ community as well and I might get more answers posting it here.
My rear suspension is noisy over bumps since lifting. The clunking is not caused by contact between the gas tank skid and drive shaft, and there is nothing actually loose-- I had the 4x4 shop re-check it after about 150 miles. They said there is no safety issue and said it's probably the adjustable track bar making the clunking noise over bumps. The JBA track bar uses Heim joints rather than rubber bushings like the OEM track bar. The noise sounds to me like it's on the driver's side.
So, those of you running JBA track bars-- do you just live with the noise, or is there a way to quiet it down? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Otherwise, I love everything about the new lift.
i dont know much about the rear suspension on the kk but check the shock bushings, if you have the bilstein 5100 rear shocks the bushing on the shaft end did not come with a metal sleeve installed, once the bolt that hold the bushing in place is tightened it is putting a lot of stress on the rubber bushing, mine always clunked and got worse over time, so i replaced the bushing with a new ploy one from energy suspension, the inside diameter was 5/8" and i put a sleeve in the bushing (make the sleeve about a 1/4" longer than the new bushing, now my rear suspension is nice and quiet. like i said idk much about the kk but thats about all i can think of.
