So I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of Boiler's Aluminum roof rack and will be driving 6 hrs to pick it up along with a bunch of other goodies I got from a member on here who sold his Jeep. Anyways was wondering if anyone knew the hardware I will need to mount the roof rack to the roof, specifically the size bolt needed, or will I just reuse the factory bolts when I remove the factory rails? Any help would greatly be appreciated! Trying to be able to mount it when I pick it up as there is a lot of other things and not all will fit in my Jeep |

And to access those bolts I have to pry plastic apart correct? Is there a good way to do it so the plastic doesn't break? Or just tear into it? I'd like to be able to keep the factor rails incase I want to put them back on or sell them. |

A screw driver would likely scratch the plastic a lot (like I did) but it would be ridged enough. |

X2 on the strong flat blade. I made indents in mine when I took them off. A heavy duty scraper or wider putty knife would more than likely work. Sent from my Galaxy Note II using Tapatalk 2 |

Just did one side and used exactly that a big scraper works great didn't break anything yet! Plastic is attached to metal clips inside. Do I need to put any sealant down before I mount the new rack? |

I applied a lot on the underside of the foot of my rack, letting that dry to form a gasket like seal then filled the holes with silicone and screwed the bolts in while it was wet. No leaks yet! |

I made filler plates outta plastic and wrapped the bolts with plumbers tape, no leaks whatsoever in the Oregon rain. Sent from my Galaxy Note II using Tapatalk 2 |

Cool thanks for the great tips fellas! Ill have to do the filler idea for the feet and the plumbers tape on the screws. I think my rack is a little different than other as it was modified to hold an ARB tent on top from previous owner so it sits low and it flat with no side rails but has all the light tabs. I am still getting used to the look of it but I like it so far, wanna get it powder coated black and have it say JEEP KJ in red or yellow on the side of rails. |
