Post subject:  CV Joint Question.

I recently lifted my 2002 jeep liberty and I now have, what I think is a problem with my CV Joint on the drivers side. It has about 112k miles on it so I am not sure if this is a common issue with liberty's after so many miles or not or if it is because of the lift. My question is that if I replace the CV joint will it last a while longer or break again? Also is there a part I can put on to prevent this from happening? Thanks, I have a V6 Jeep liberty 2002, 3" suspension lift.

More than likely worn out if that is the problem.
Its a wear item so some last 75,000, some more.
As far as being lifted mines been for over 165,000 miles, had 20,000 when I lifted and just swapped out the OE CV on the drivers side about 1000 miles ago
If it is the CV replace with a remanned unit from NAPA
What type of issues or noises etc are you having?

The only issues I am having is a very loud crunching noise like the one in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0N-d8RcsKw, it sounds very bad and it gets louder the faster you go, I don't feel safe driving with it. That is the only real issue so far. Thanks for the NAPA recommendation I will be sure to do that if a bad CV joint is the case.

Check the rear boot on the front driveshaft also
boot goes bad, bearings dry up and make noise when they go
cheap fix as well
