Does anyone know if the engine from a 2005 Jeep Liberty 3.7L work in a Jeep Liberty 2002 3.7l. The reason I'm asking is be cause my 2005 was in an accident and the engine is salavgeable and I found a 2002 with a blowen engine for a good price.

You will have to swap the '02 engine crank and cam reluctor rings(and use the '02's cam and crank sensors) into your '05's engine and use the '02's intake manifold and exhaust manifolds.Yes this means you have to tear down both engines. You also will need to swap the flexplates as the 45RFE requires and different flexplate then the 42RLE.

If your doing all the work and the stuff is good in the blown '02 engine it's just going to cost you a gasket kit and a lot of your time.
