Ok....the front suspension skid went on beautifully (though I'm going to the local garage tomorrow to check the torque because I think I overdid it despite borrowing a torque wrench).

However.....

The transfer case skid did not fit.

My Liberty is a 2003 and the dealer gave me part # 82209455 which is apparently only for 2004 and 2005 models.

Parts guy did some research and found that what I should need is part # 82208421, which has been discontinued and is only available in the Mopar system from one dealer in NJ.

I found some online shops that are still advertising #82208421 but before I order and pay shipping I want to make sure that transfer skid will fit.

Why in the heck do they insist on moving all of the holes around :?

When I got the transfer case skid for my '02 Liberty, I posted that it had been disontinued by The Daimler. I thought maybe the new part number for the newer transfer case skid would supercede the old number and they would make it so it would fit all models. Guess I was wrong about that.

I did order one of the 3 or 4 remaining '02 skid from a dealer in Ventura. They shipped it to New Mexico for $12.

You might want to grab that one in NJ while you can...they will soon be made of unobtainium.

acbafam has one and only lives a few miles from me but only has the skid. I've got to call and see if I can get just the little hardware package that comes with it. Anyone know?

I just purchased the # 82209455 t-case skid for my '03. I'll post up some pics when I get it installed tomorrow (gonna do the tranny skid too :) )

I installed the 05 transfercase skid on my 02 but I had to make some new holes in my crossmember to make it all work.

Does anyone make a Transfer Case skid more heavy duty than the Mopar one? It is obvious that once we (owners of older KJ's) tear up our TC skids, we won't be able to replace them with the OEM's.

Time for me to go into business and makeThe War Field Transfer Case skid.

Some of you know why that name would be used....fitting...LOL!

The well nuts can be hard to find. I tried to find some locally and the area dealers didn't even have any or know the p/n to order. You can probably by the tap and Drill and tap the hole and end up with a stronger mount.

OK, I don't have any pics yet but the new t-case skid is on. Three of the four holes line up fine, the only one that doesn't is against the crossmember, so you could probably do like others have done with the tranny skid and drill thru the crossmember for a bolt. Here is a crude sketch of what I am talking about:

The red circle indicates the hole that doesn't line up. Because of where it's located I decided to just leave that bolt out for now, but I may get ambitious later and put one thru there.

Ive not worried about it but its never really been hit hard. It just has a few scratches on it.

Yeah, thats the one I had a hard time with. I also noticed there's a gap between the tranny and t-case skids - they don't overlap on mine (I see they don't overlap on your either). As long as they are on and protecting I'm not gonna quibble.
