So I recently installed the factory mopar 7 pin harness into my Jeep and seem to be missing some signals on some of the pins. I have EVIC so I was under the impression that I just needed to install the rear harness that plugs in behind the passenger side trim in the cargo area. I tested using a voltmeter and verified that am getting turn signal/brake lights and reverse lights but do not seems to be getting 12V power or running lights(headlights were on). I don't get anything on the brake controller signal pin, but i dont have a brake controller so I assume this is correct anyways.
Any idea's as to why i don't have running lights or the 12V main power? Is there a fuse that I need to install or something?
Thanks!
Did your CRD come from the factory with the EVIC? If so, you
shouldn't need the supplemental harness to get the factory 7-pin to work correctly. However...
I've always wondered how/why the EVIC makes a difference. My '03 gasser didn't come with a factory EVIC (I installed one later) nor did it come with the 7-pin trailer harness. So I purchased the supplemental harness and when I installed the harnesses there didn't appear to be any way that the 7-pin would be fully powered without the supplemental harness - even with a factory installed EVIC.
On mine, everything but the brake controller works (I don't have a brake controller installed yet) and given the extra power wiring in the supplemental unit - and the way it integrates existing relays with the 7-pin components - it makes sense to me how the whole system would work. Like I said, there doesn't seem to be any way an EVIC would make a difference.
You may have to make an additional purchase - it's fairly easy to install.
