Anyone know the secret for getting the two separated? I've had this drive shaft set sitting around and need to turn the cores in. The Intermediate shaft is in great shape so I don't want to give it to NAPA.

Tried bashing the CV housing with a rubber mallet, but no joy. Can't get a shim in to release the clip. I haven't removed the boot, not even sure that would make it easier.

I had to put the intermediate in a big bench vise and beat the CV off with a sledge. Little hammers weren't doing it.

Ahh a bigger hammer. Did you use a piece of wood to pound on or just pound on the housing?

once the intermediate shaft is in the vice it will come right out.
I used one of the 4lb orange hammers from hf, or sledge plus wood would work.

Mine was in good shape yet still in there pretty solid. Its normal.
