Ok so my pan gasket was leaking a little bit, and when the dealer did the flush and fill they didn't change the filter, I guess you have to pay extra for that. So I decided to to go to the dealer and pick up a filter and change it myself since the pan gasket was leaking anyway. Well according to my FSM it says once you get all that done, add 4 quarts of Mopar ATF+4 and then run the selector through each setting, check it again and let it warm it, add as needed. I did just that. I thought max needed to add was about 5 quarts? Well mine has taken 6 quarts and its just barely over the last dot on the hot reading of the dipstick..
Photo is kinda crapy, my 04 has the two dots for reading when its cold and then up a little ways two dots for reading when its hot. You can kinda see the reddish ATF fluid in the photo on the bottom dot of the hot reading.

Now this is being checked after the vehicle has been driven and ran through all 4 gears on the road, then brought back to my garage, ran the selector through all ranges and back to park or neutral. So I know the tranny fluid is hot and at operating temp. My main question is, has anyone else's taken 6 quarts? The thing is driving fine with the vehicle cold or hot. Nothing funky going on. I just don't want to over fill it or run to low..

I was told to have 8 quarts on hand when I do mine in a few weeks.

Yep! Thanks man, I found some of the wrangler guys talking about this on another forum. Makes me feel at ease. I know a dip stick doesn't lie, it just threw me off. Thank goodness I had some Mopar ATF+4 left over from when I did the TJ's trans..
