Last night when I left my sister in laws apartment building my roof rack was ripped off by a garage beam. Problem is that it tore the bolts and nuts completely out with the side rails. Any way to fix it????

I have never had the roof rack off yet.

But the emergency way out of a situation where your bolt/nut combo is too small for the hole, is to stack washers of varying diameters so the bolt has something to grab onto.

Did this with my exhaust heat shield.

Then like Tom said, time for the body shop.

Thank you for the help. I thought about the washer idea but not sure how it would work since the nut was ripped out too. Might just have to take it to a body shop to get welded closed. Will I still be able to mount side rails if it gets welded? Or are the any better side rails than the factory ones the won't break the bank or you the factory mounts?

Depends what you wanna do, take the headliner off and beat the hole flat by placing something sturdy on the opposite side, or get creative with nuts and bolts from the hardware store.

Either way, if you wanna save a bit of money have it torn apart BEFORE going to the body shop. A good body shop should appreciate it and cut you a deal, especially if it's just for a couple of spot welds.

Another question, where are you located?

When you pull the nutzerks out its pretty hard to place washers etc , pretty much have to weld close and redrill and install new ones. headliner has to come out either way
Theres only one way to fix it and thats the right way. Not with some trying to attach it and have leaks etc

I've never had it off before.

I just know that when I screw up a hole in something thin, I try to Jimmie rig it until I can find time to set up the welder.

I know I fixed my heat shield that way, washers etc. But that was a heat shield and I would sooner just rip it off. :)
