| Post subject: | P0725 Engine won't start |
06 CRD, 99k miles, OBDC code p0725. Engine started this morning, seemed to run a liitle rough but it was cold. After 20-30 seconds the engine cut out. The ignition will work when the key turns but the engine won't catch and turn over. No smoke weird sounds, or CEL. The code indicates "Engine Speed input Circuit". Where is it, can I just replace that part? Any other suggestions? |

First - repost over in CRD...Love that Torque - more diesel answers over there. Google advanced found P0725 code on a couple dozen threads - but doesn't sound like it's the problem - it's just the symptom of how the engine died. I'm not sure of the "The ignition will work when the key turns but the engine won't catch and turn over" dash lights come on? - but the starter won't engage - when the battery dies - it acts like it's trying to start - but there's not enough voltage for the computer to turn on - but it wouldn't have started on the first cycle. you might want to mention if you've changed the timing belt |

Sounds like maybe the crank position sensor is bad? That's the one that measures engine speed. You can take it off the engine and measure its resistance. About 1100 ohms is what I remember a good one being. |
