I've had BFG TA/KOs on my LTD for a really long time now. They still have reasonable tread on them, but all but one now slowly lose air. I need to top them up once a week. Has anyone else run into this? There is no rim damage and I do not think I have picked up nails or anything. I hate to go out and buy new tire$ because there is still enough tread on these, but losing air all the time really worries me.

Do you have a TPMS system?

Nope. I just do it the old fashioned way with a good gauge I have. I can also feel it as they lose air, in the steering and how it rolls at low speed. I like to run them at 36 and am always finding them down in the 20s.

Could be a number of things, valve stem going bad, some ice in the valve stem, nail, screw whatever, is it all of them or one?
Best bet is to take it in to a tire shop and let them see what it maybe

That is a good suggestion. I may get a bucket of soapy water out and look myself first. All 4 tires lose air, three of them at what I consider to be an alarming rate, e.g., 10 or more lbs in a week, and one loses maybe a pound a week, which I don't find alarming.

If they are quite old could be some tread / or sidewall separation going on as well
Many times old tires will leak out through them.
Also check around the beads well, rust can build up on the rims and cause leaks

If you're filling them up once a week, the soapy water idea should hopefully help pinpoint the problem area(s).

Well, nothing obvious showed up. Of course, I did not have the wheels off and in a tub, but I should have seen some bubbles enlarge or get pushed by moving air. Nothing, though.

What kind of wheels do you run? Do you have a standard rubber valve stem or an aftermarket style?

The valve stem seals on the TPMS is a common leak area, which is why I asked.

This is a 2002 LTD and I am running the standard Liberty Limited alloy wheels. The valve stems are rubber and appear to be ordinary in style.

Well, it's a bead leak, tread seperation or valve stem issue unless all 4 wheels have pin holes in them (doubtful).

Your going to have to pull one off and put it in the bath tub.
