Have a 2006 Liberty CRD i just bought used. Its been lifted(unsure of brand was told its 3" and it appears to me to be a spring lift just because the springs look newer than other suspension parts to me and i dont see signs of spacers) and currently has steel wheels with about 3.5" of backspacing and 31x10.50 on it. Im wanting to go to a set of XJ icon wheels which are very close if not identical in backspacking to stock wheels. It appears the inner fender wells are gone to me, they are metal when the factory inners should be plastic correct? Also its got an aftermarket front bumper that is by no means in the way. So question is can i run a 235/85 r16 AT tire. I dont do any heavy offroading, but will i loose a ton of power compared to now? also will i have rub with these? center of wheel to fender is about 22". Lastly the stock diff with these tires for winter driving, and the occasional taking it out in a field on the farm?

22 inches middle of wheel to bottom of the flare?
If so then 235-85-16s will be tight, Yes you have 3 inches of lift or there abouts but for 32s you need closer to 4 inches to have enough room to flex etc
And no matter what anyone says yes you will lose power and mileage going to that size.
There should be wheelwells in there, yes plastic, some think ripping them out gives you more room to fit larger tires

they are strangley absent, is there a good way to tell what sorta lift kit i have? Also what tire size would you recommend on the icon wheels they are i beleive 16x7 with 5.25" BS so pretty much a stock wheel i think they came on some early libertys, where would i have issues with rub on the 235/85 r16?

I'm running 235x85 R16's General AT2's on stock wheels with the standard 2.5 inch spring lift and after market bumper. You should have no issues. I do a have a rub at full lock. Just avoid full lock.

do you have to start worrying about breaking front diffs on these with the 235/85? i plan on running a good AT tire not an MT and i really dont do any heavy offroading.

really looking at the BFGoodrich AT. they have always been a pretty good tire i beleive.

With those wheels rubbing on the sway bars at the very least
Pinch welds unless they have been pounded over also
hard to say what lift you have, what color are the springs and shocks, can you tell?
BFGs? Used to be a fan years ago, any more way better tires out there that do a much better job over all

will a 245/75 r16 eliminate the rub? pinch is pounded over, and the stuff is all painted black.

to the guy running the CRD with 235/85s are you using wheel spacers?

No wheel spacers, stock aluminum alloy wheels 16x7.

how much more strain is the 32" tire going to put on the front end in this thing? is it something to worry about if im not wheeling? also is the loss of power going to be significant?

depends on how you wheel.
If you are the type that plants your foot on the floor when it starts to spin then yes it will blow
If you drive /wheel with some finesse, then they'll last a lot longer

i really dont wheel, its going to be driven on the farm, through open fields, and on the road to work when the weather is bad, otherwise itll be in the garage.
