so i have this clicking coming from the rear end or from the rear axles...... it seems to only happen when im driving under 10 mph or so. i hear it when im coming to a stop and taking off slowly... ive had the wheels off and spun the the axles by hand and the click is dependant on how fast the axles are turning. turn em slow and the click is slow. faster and it gets faster. like the arrow on "the price is right" wheel... beep.beep.beep. beep. beep. beep. beep. beep. im sure it could be a variety of things but does anyone have any ideas on what i could check out under there....?

The first thing I would do is to check the axle housing to see if you have a Traklok Diff. There will be a tag that will let you know. If it is I would suggest you change out the Diff fluid with 75W140 synthetic gear lube and the four ounces of friction modifier that you can get at the Jeep store. It could be that your fluid has gotten old and needs replenishing to allow the clutches to do their job properly.

You will also want to check the rear U-Joints to make sure that they are OK.

These are two easy fixes that will not cost a lot.

look for extra pieces in the bottom. that is one time that extra pieces are never good!!! check the gears of signs of excessive wear such as chips, cracks, smeered finish,

Did you ever find out what the clicking was?
