I see Marlin has a Y-link extension and adjustable LCAs... when are these needed and what do they do?

Do they bring the driveline back into specs? I'm assuming the LCA's tilt the rear diff up to where is was before adding 4" of lift... am I assuming right?

Rear adjustable LCAs would push the diff back while making the front of the diff lower in turn making the driveline angle worse!

The upper tri link extension only raises the tri link higher , does not put the driveline at a better angle though. Have one hanging in the garage that I have looked at using but its not really worth it I don't think at this point.

But isn't the Y-link adjustable so can change the angle? It comes with a ton of washers so you can adjust the angle better...

Yes it does come with a ton of washers
But after lying under mine for hours,(cheaper than sitting in a bar  ) it would not be enough. To use adjustable LCAs to move the diff back some you would also need a longer tri-link, not enough washers for that much adjustment with that bracket.

Plus with a normal lift that we're doing to center the wheel it needs to go back an inch or so, with the lift and the driveline angles the top is already pointed down more than stock so to return it to stock specs would require the top to go back 1.5 to 1.75 inches or more ( at least) I had it all worked out about a year ago but lost my drawings and amounts

SO
longer LCAs
longer tri link
more than likely even longer driveshaft

Tom,

I'd like to discuss this more... can you come up with the specs again? I'm thinking an angled tri link about 6" long.... obviously a longer driveshaft...

Really I sort of gave up on it for several reasons
The amount of lift we can do in the 3.5 /4 inch range the rear will survive quite well. If you are going over that Marlin has some setups I think with his 6 inch kits that may work.
Any higher and the $$$ involved just maybe better to go SFA and be done with it.
Some have talked about building an extended Tri link but so far no one has. Also need to carefully measure if extending it back how much workable room you have when it gets closer to the gas tank.
But like I said 3.5 to 4 inches it works, at least mine has for over 100,000 miles.
Swampthing tried doing some things to his using the bracket from JBA and stacked springs / spacers with very bad results.

Let me just say, I'm glad Marlin is supportive of us with bits and pieces with the KJ, re the Y bracket though, its not one of the best things, not without modification.

Some thoughts if your interested.
