hey guys new to the forum i dont own a jeep but my little brother does. recently i discovered it tossed exhaust rockers on #1 and #3. ive found a couple posts about these 3.7 tossing salad, i mean rockers. i need to know best place to get new valve springs if the old ones are damaged. i dont think they are but hey im not a jeep guy. also i saw where one guy put washers under his lifters to prevent them from collapsing as far causing slack in the rocker arm. i need to know the best way to fix this. seems like nobodys found a sure fix yet. thanks in advance for your help guys i need to get my bro back on the road |

I ran across this youtube video explaining how to fix the rocker arms on a 4.7 (same as your 3.7 but with two extra cylinders). I was scouting youtube last week because my engine had a rod bearing go bad and I was listening to various engine noise clips to identify the noise I was hearing. Youtube has additional rocker arm vids as well, but most of them just show the problem, not how to fix it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksrDE2zjC34 |

You can get the parts from oreilly auto parts. Don't put washers in the engine to try and half booty a fix. Do it right the first time. |

so i got it back together last night started and ran fine (w/ washers under #1 exhaust lifter). i started it again this morening and i heard it throw a rocker. i left it until this evening when i got home to find it snapped the rocker. im not sure if the washers caused it or if it happened after it fell. im having a difficult time finding valve springs or rockers. autozone, orielys, advanced none of them have the parts. they all have lifters and thats it maybe valves. i ordered a new rocker arm off amazon it will be here tomorrow. im gona try to remove 1 of the 2 washers. when i installed the lifter initially the cam lobe was not close enough to the rocker added 1 washer still not added 2nd washer seemed perfect. so ill try 1 washer this time. the cylinder has 150psi compression so i doubt the valve is bent or the spring is bad. |

Try RockAuto for parts http://www.rockauto.com/ or for genuine Mopar parts: http://www.partswebsite.com/moparonlineparts/ I dropped a #2 exhaust a couple years ago. Saw the washer trick but I just popped mine back on and it never happened again. If they keep falling off something is definitely wrong. Lash adjusters may be toast and are available from the above. |
