Post subject:  When to change PCV (2007)

I'm doing some maintenance (fluids swap, plugs, just did brakes) and was wondering what the prevailing thoughts are on when to change the PCV valve. The manual just says to inspect it every 30K and change if necessary. On the 2007 it's not the $4 one you can buy at Oreilly that goes on the oil fill neck. It's a $25 part that goes in on the back of the engine on the drivers side. It looks like it's a little bit of a pain in the butt to remove.

Should I just leave it until I get a trouble light or replace it at regular intervals?

It'd be wise to change it since you're not sure when it was changed last.
I changed mine the first week I got it with 35K on the clock to be safe. After that first initial change, I just checked it the other day with 60K and everything seems fine.
Popular overlooked maintenance item.

I know when it was last changed. It was changed at about 60K miles and I'm now at about 108K. I don't see any obvious signs of problems but then, I don't really know what I'm looking for. I do know the hose doesn't want to come off of it. Before I struggled with it I wanted to make sure I should even be worrying about it.

It can be a little struggle taking it off. When you take the pcv off you want to shake it and listen for it to "click" to see if it's still in good working condition. If it's gummed up it won't click.
