I have an 06 Liberty Diesel and I want to install a locker in the rear. I have been looking at the Aussie Locker, does anyone have any experience with this product. We are full time RV'ers, and we tow the Liberty behind our MH. We do wheeling runs with the local groups in the area we are in, as well as with FMCA 4 wheelers, level 3 would probably be the toughest trail we would do. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated, Bruce |

When they came out with the locker for the 8.25 there were a ton of issues with them . I still would never recommend them Detroit Trutrac or an ARB are both better and stronger alternatives |

ARB gives you the added advantage of on board air for tire fill ups. Also check out the Eaton E Locker. |

I love my OX lockers. No seals to blow out like a ARB and if your cable/air/electric goes out they have a "get home device" to manually lock/unlock them. I really like them alot, even more than my ARBs that i have had previously |

Been toying with the idea of adding a posi to the rear of my CRD Jeep. Both my Dodges have full blown limited slip differentials (clutch pack type) in each of them. Yukon Spartan Locker, Lock Right Locker, and Aussie Locker seem to be the least expensive and simplest option for a daily driver that would not require changing out and setting up the whole carrier. I know Tom stated he did not recommend the Aussie brand, is there any problems with either of the others? Or should one not even consider these devices? I have no experiance with these type of devices! There are some Dana Spicer Trac Lock, and Auburn limited slips available on line for about the same prices as the lower price add in lockers listed above although they do require changing out the carrier and setting it up with new bearings which will add to the overall cost.... These are the types that I am most experienced with! The high dollar lockers like the Detroit, ABR, OX, etc... while maybe the best, are not a viable option for everyones budget. Thoughts, advice, suggestions... |

True trac is a limited slip not a locker. Nothing wrong with aussie, spartan, lokka, or other lunch box type lockers when installed correctly. Never had anything but them in wheeling rigs. Only issue on the street is you do not have full control of it engaging but if you learn how to drive it you will hardly notice it in there. sent on tapatalk |

ARB's and electric lockers have that feature automatically, they simply do not "lock" without air or electricity.OX requires something to be able to unlock it if the cable breaks. As far as lunchbox style lockers(aussie) spend the extra $$$ and get a better locker or LSD(non-clutch type). In the long run you will be much happier that you "blew your budget".On road manners those lunchbox lockers are down right scary if you get snow/ice and have hilly roads, would never allow anyone else to drive it they will loose control. Also wears tires much faster. |

I've had an aussie locker in my rear diff for 2.5 years now. Haven't had any issues with it, there will absolutely be clicking noises and people will tell you there's something wrong with your vehicle everytime you make a turn. I was referred to Aussie by a friend who had one in his manual 2007 Liberty. I installed mine back in New York January 2013, drove about 250 miles around town. Then I drove 6,500+ miles across the U.S to Alaska and it worked just fine. Side note, it's for the Chrysler 8.25. I had to drive to the owner of Aussie locker's home in Rochester, NY to switch mine out. It was easier than shipping and waiting and delaying my big move! He had dozens upon dozens of stacks of them sitting in his kitchen table!...... I crap you not! |

The cable type might but I run them as air. |

Anyone know if the 912A553 (29 Spline) Eaton Detroit Truetrac will fit the rear of a CRD Jeep 8.25? Drive Train America states this in its add: 912A553 NOTES: CHRYSLER 8.25" 29 SPLINE REAR FITS 1997' TO PRESENT FITS BOTH C CLIP AND NON C CLIP AXLES JEEP LIBERTY CHEROKEE DODGE DAKOTA DURANGO RAM 1500 1/2 TON PICKUP DODGE RAM VAN 1500 1/2 TON ETC **WILL NOT FIT JEEP LIBERTY CRD MODEL I contacted them and their answer was: Quote: The CRD version of this Chrysler 8.25” uses a metric ring gear and we have been informed by Eaton that it is not compatible. He further stated that they do not make one for the Jeep CRD. Anyone confirmed this??? |

Thanx for all the replies, judging from the replies, I am not the only one out there considering this. Why would the 8.25 of a diesel be different from the gas model, it doesn't make sense, Mopar doesn't go to that much trouble. |

Anyone confirmed this??? for '05's use the regular DTT part # EAT912A553,'06's are a whole nother ball of wax due to the addition of ESP and going to a 4 channel ABS system. |

Thank you TJ, That is exactly the info needed! The 912A553 can be purchased for about the same price as the lunch box lockers and most limited slip carriers have better manners than the lockers according to what some have posted on this forum... |

Unless your going to wheel more hardcore the DTT is great.I ran 1 in the front of my KJ for years and loved it,had a rear ARB though. |

Most time is pavement, occasional off road when a posi or locker would be real nice....
