What are the best front bearing assemblies to buy for the 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD?

I have 140,000 miles on mine. I have no current indication that wheel bearings are needed.

What are the best front bearing assemblies to buy for a 2006 Jeep liberty CRD?

How long do the wheel bearings usually last?

I do not like to do things more often than necessary. I want a pair of hubs that will last another 140,000 miles or more.

I looked on Amazon, Ebay and rockauto.com There are many choices.

Which bearings have achieved good longevity?

I always used GM or AC Delco hubs on my 6.5 diesels. I tried a pair of recommended MI bearings once and only got 20,000 miles on them. They were not much cheaper. Especially considering the AC Delco's came with all the studs and the rotor installed.
We've got about 2 million miles on our 6.5's so I think I have some parts figured as far as what to buy and what not to buy.

I'm brand new at this Jeep thing and want to stay with quality parts.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've needed to do one so far, went with a timken from rock auto. PN HA599455L

I've used the timken on both the 6.5 and 6.6 with good luck in the past. (I actually think I have a NIB one for a 1/2 ton 6.5 laying around. If you need one, let me know).

I'll try to file that info away. Is it a 6 lug? or an 8 lug? we have both so it doesn't matter much. Just depends if I have one or the other go bad

I hopefully won't need one for a while, but hope in one hand and ..

What kind of mileage did everybody have when they had to switch bearings?

I was at 98.5k. Passenger side as well. Will also address the left when it tells me to.

SKF Bearings. This is from a Former Mopar Parts Adviser. You can get them from NAPA or Rock Auto. No other manufacturer's quality comes close. We went through several Mopar front hubs on our 07 Parts Truck, and once we put in the SKF bearings, we haven't replaced them yet.

Replaced my pass. side with Timken. It's a much nicer unit than the stock one.

How does one get the 3 interior screws out? even with jack stands I can't get enough leverage in there to crack that screw rust

I went with cheapo unit bearings first, and one expired ~18 months later with 245/75R16E tires. Put on Timkens a couple months ago.

Turn the steering for more room. I used liquid wrench and a 18" breaker bar to get them moving.

Turn the wheels all the way to right or left as needed to get at the bolts and apply leverage using a long breaker bar wrench with a good Torx socket.
Just had one of mine apart last week to replace the inner axle seal.
They are hard but doable...

Yup, turn the wheels, use plenty of PB Blaster, brush the exposed ends of the bolts with a wire brush so they're clean, use a nice, long breaker bar and a good Torx socket.

Mine came loose even though they'd spent 80,000 miles in Michigan.

Time to pay Rock Auto a visit myself. Mine are just starting to howl a bit...115k miles...not bad I suppose.

Sent from my mystical handheld gizmo.

yeah the NAPA stuff is quality. The crap from the other cheaper suppliers is absolute junk.

My jeep has been lifted w/245/75's for 11 years. I had the front end apart last week and the hub units are till good @190K miles. I thought they'd be some of the parts I'd replace but nope. 3 of 4 ball joints,CV shafts (w/used good stuff from stash),front diff (used),rotors and pads. I'm really surprised at the quality of the parts on my '02 (build Oct '01).

I was trying to avoid anything 'made in China'

but almost every company has manufacturing in China and they'll only say 'meets our quality specs'

ended up ordering SKF from RockAuto - 'Made in Canada' - working great

I just take the whole damned knuckle off. And then impact the T14 off. But hey, that's just me.
