I took off my rotors off to inspect them and at the same time replaced my front brake pads. When I put everything back together I don't have any rear brake lights and very stiff brakes / poor braking ability . I checked some fuses that I thought were related (abs, and brake lights but everything is ok). Is there a sensor I damaged ?

On a side note while I had that disassembled I reinstalled my factory radio CD player. While doing that I shorted a fuse by touching a power wire but I replaced that fuse . I don't think it's related to my prob but just for your info.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Ok I went through all the fuses (inside the cab ) and they were ok visually . But I realized that the fuse diagram from the owners manual is WRONG. So now after doing some research I found what probably is the right diagram and will check when I have time.

MORE CLUES- my cruise control unit was not working so I unmounted it to inspect it. While I was doing this I broke the thin vacuum tube that connects to it. That tube is connected to brake master cylinder .

Does my Liberty even have ABS ?

The brake light issue is most likely due to the shorting of the power wire for the radio, check all fuses.

Your stiff brake pedal issue is due to the massive vacuum leak you created by breaking that vacuum line to the cruise control.

Yup. Your vacuum assist is not working which is why the stiff pedal. Amazing how much difference it makes. Just plug that line until you can get it fixed. I hate those days when I break more than I fix.

Eureka!!

Vacuum tube to cruise control plugged. Brakes working again !

All my brake light bulbs including safety brake bulb were blown !! I don't understand how working on my stereo affected them??? The whole stereo harness was clipped so I had to resolder them back to the original harness. When I did that I remember something arced. Why didn't the brake fuse blow?!

Anyways on my way to buy new bulbs.

Thanks for all the tips and help !!!

Weird how two separate things I worked on affected the brakes!
