Post subject:  Diff madness????????

Heeelp I had my KJ in low box and drove it about 10 yards on full lock (off road but not that muddy) and heard a bang followed by a horrendous racket when I drove it. I immediately thought front diff wind up and blown front diff. I took it to a garage who took out front prop (which was ok and stopped most of the clattering noise) and told me to buy another diff.
I bought said diff, and took it in whereupon they discovered the front drivers drive shaft has popped (maybe the bang I heard?) - so now I've been told to buy another drive shaft as well.
I don't even know if it is the diff anymore or just the drive shaft now ...or both. I'm confused.
They are saying that to swap out the front diff and axle on a KJ the engine needs to be lifted - I can't believe this.
Does anyone have any experience of this?

I answered this already somewhere else ( fakebook )
But no do not have to do anything to the engine to remove front diff
more than likely ts the CV on the rear of the front driveshaft
easy to replace and inexpensive
gave you the link
