Hello all,

I'm putting together a 3.5" lift for my CRD. I'm going to copy the tommudd econolift on the front, but I'm thinking of doing something different in the back.

I've herad that JBA 891's or 863's can work as rear springs and they seem like they're in that 3.5"+ ballpark. I can also get a pair for about $50 cheaper than the JBA's

Has anyone done or heard of this?

What concerns should I have?

Thanks.

Depends on spring rate and a lot of other factors
Also what front springs are you using?
What extras?
Can't lift a CRD like you do a gasser due to the diff being off set
So just curious, done a couple of them here for customers

Hey Mr. Mudd,

My ultimate goal is to run 235/85/16's with 4.11's.

Presently I'm planning on OME 790's up front with ome 90009 struts, conduit nuts, and jba .5" top plates. I understand half shaft trimming will probably be necessary.

Also planning a lighter weight winch bumper and to copy some of william waddy's work in the wheel wells. While I'm at it I'll replace my rusty MN rocker panels with 2×6 or 2x8 1/8" squre tube.

All that to say I hope I'll clear up front even after some sag.

The rear of my wifes has ome 947's + daystar spacers over 245/75/16s on moabs and her spring rate is much to light for our taste. I want a full length spring that I can clear skinny 32's with and haul 4 people, gear, a canoe, and a mountain bike or two.

Does that help?

I ran 265-75-16s ( 32s ) over 90,000 miles with aftermarket front and rear bumpers etc
JBA coilovers in front since you get spring / UCA contact over 3.5-3.75 inches
Had mine at about 4.5 all around
No mods to the inner wheelwells in front at all
Rear used JBA 4 inch coils and Monroe Load leveler shocks
Worked great

Tom,

I'm hoping to run the OME stuff up front because of financial constraints. Actually, the whole reason for this post is doing a budget "econolift." I'm trying to cut project costs without cutting too many corners.

So far I've only got the OME 90009 struts in the garage. UCA's, tri-link extension, and terraflex bump stops are pending from Cardhu.

If I get coil contact over 3.5" then I guess 3.5" is all I can lift up front. Hopefully the 32's (235/85, ~265/75, or any other workable 32" variant) don't rub too much with the extra clearancing I have planned.

On a side note, how much clevis lift do CRD's need to get to 3.5" with 790's and a 1/2" top plate?

Did you find a need to install a slip yoke eliminator or custom driveshaft at any point? Wifey's has a slight vibration that I think is driveshaft related.

Also on a bunny trail, if I can only get to 3.5, do I need to shave my CV's?

I was planning on buying the 4" bilsteins from JBA for the back end but I could see load levelers working well. I could also see the Monroe brand being cheaper :pepper: What part No?

Back on topic. Any Idea how much lift I could expect from 891's? Found a new set for $125 shipped vs closer to $190 + shipping for the JBA's. Every dollar counts.

I don't have detailed specs for the JBA's so I'm not sure how they compare.

Thanks
