Post subject:  Powertrax no- slip question

I have a Powertrax in the rear of my 04 Liberty Limited. It has worked perfectly for the 5K miles since I put it in. Now, on acceleration from a stop or slow down the vehicle will lurch to the right OR left. It started going to the right and after a week or so it now goes to the left. I called Richmond's tech support got no help. Has anyone experienced a similar problem and if so what was the repair.
Thanks

Mine worked fine for several months. Then it did the same thing as yours is doing for a month or two. I called richmond and they told me to add some lucas oil stuff but I never got around to it and it went away on its own. If you ignore it long enough It might go away like mine did.

Don't bother adding a friction modifier, it makes it tacky and can work worse.

How about a synthetic gear oil?

I ran one in my XJ for 2.5 years with 100% Lucas oil and it worked great even with a 5 speed. I would try refilling it with Lucas and see what that does, it'll only cost you $10 or so.

It gets better, sometimes it will load up and release and bang!!!! You will think you broke an axle. I had one in my XJ with a 5 speed. They work great offroad but mine would pull to the right or left often, bang, pop, ratchet, turn heads. All of that. All worth it though off road.

It already does the bangs, pops and ratchetting. Having driven 4x4 all of my adult life (don't ask) I am used to those noises, but this lurch is just plain aggravating

You forgot the tires barking any time you give it gas pulling out, which is hard not to do.
