| Post subject: | Poison Spider Mesa in a KJ? |
A friend of mine wants me to go with him to Moab in 2 weeks. He's going to rent a TJ in town and do Elephant Hill, White Rim Trail & Poison Spider Mesa. We both figure my stock Renegade could do the White Rim w/o a problem, and Elephant Hill with care; however he feels that Poison Spidr Mesa would cause major damage w/o an upgrade. Has anyone here at LOST been over PSM? In a KJ? Any opinions about how a stock Renegade would do? Thanks in advance. |

KJs have run PSM many times. Take a look at the latest shots: http://townsendsociety.org/moab/MoabTuesday.htm Recommend skids, including tranny, limited slip diff. Expect your stock rock rails to get mashed. A lift would help but if your friends have tow straps that'll get you though any issues. Guys have run it with stock tires. |

There are a few spots that you will really be beating up your belly w/out a lift and larger tires and All skids would be mandatory underneath a stocker for sure. You could always ride along w/ him if possible. Great trail to see even from the passenger seat. |

OK. I have 4 factory skids from the off-road group, and I'm not sure if I've got the Limited slip or not. So unless I stop by Rock Lizard's on the way out, I'll just park her that day. Thanks guys. |

take the bypasses(on the optional stuff, like wedgy and at the end of the waterfall-towards the top), if you got full skids underneath and stock rock rails go for it. expect to bang them up and MAYBE need a tug in 1 spot. If you are unexperienced then this might be a little hard as it can be techinical... but yeah it can be done. |
