Post subject:  question on frankenlift

I just installed my frankenlift today. Have one question. Is is normal for the upper control to be touching or almost touching the front springs?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's why they have those red or yellow poly bumpstops pipe-strapped onto them. The front should settle a bit, and that will give you more clearance. Mine would actually rub every now and then when it was new. It sounds a lot like the swaybar bushings drying out, but it's nothing to be worried about...

Interesting question - I am installing my frankenlift this weekend, and it didn't come with those pipestrapped bump stops as far as I know (they weren't strapped onto the strut already, and if they are in the kit, they are both in the other strut box that I didn't open yet.

If you got a newer lift, they are supposed to have custom spacers with the bumper pad built in. They used to strap an extra piece of poly on the regular daystar spacer as a bumper.

Actually, I'd like to see that, too. I don't remember there being any pad or anything.

Does it make a difference that I got the OME front strut? I imagine they are similiar enough in size and shape so that they would both hit anyway

I have the old version, and I installed the new version...if you have the older one, just look where it was, then now it's just part of the rubber that used to be daystar, and now is All-J's custom. Looks good. Personally I like it better, i.e. there is less chance of it being cut/ripped/falling off. But still looks good. Since you probably haven't seen the old one, just look where your A-arm almost touches the black poly. the part where it "sticks" out, and is not round and part of the main puck, that's the bump stop.

Se7enLC I have the ome also and it already attached to the daystar spacers. Check your front struts and see if it attached .
P.S. you can't miss then they are a good size

that is why Frankenlift is the way to go if you can afford it - comes out the box & goes into place, done!

Well.............. not that easy but u get my point

When I finished mine, my index finger will not even fit between the two but now that it has settlet a bit, there is more space.

Ok, I'll take a look for them. I didn't look to hard initially, I just remember there not being a pipe clamp and nothing seemed asymmetric about it (ie, no spacer sticking off to one side that I noticed). I will be installing it all soon, so we shall see! Thanks
