| Post subject: | plastic rivets? |
Has anyone come up with something better to replace the plastic rivets in the fender flares? Experenced some rubbing in the rear that broke one and now I have a deep slice from the fender well opening in the side wall of my tire. Luckly it just caught the tread lugs. |

When I painted my KJ I used 1/4" steel rivets when I put the flares back on. |

So far they have, rubed all the bedliner off but the rivets are still holding.I'm sure if I stuff real hard I'll rip the plastic mounts first. |

They didn't have a part no# that I saw just went to home depot and got a couple of boxes of 1/4"X1" rivets. If you know somebody that has a air rivet gun it makes short work of them, lot less manual labor involved than using the manual rivet guns. |

im curious to know. about how hard is it to take off the fender flares? I noticed the ones on the rear doors have plastic rivets except the 1 on the bottom, is that gonna be PITA? Cuz I have been wanting to get them line-xd.. |

I'm picking up rivets to accomplish this task today. Thanks for the idea, tjkj2002, a lot better than replacing them with more plastic garbage. |

0311_DoC, if you're talking about the chrome rivets in the fender flares, they're actually fake and don't hold anything on |

I've tried Lowe's, HomeDepot, and Ace without luck locating the the 1/4" shank rivets. Anybody have any ideas? |

And how do the rear flares come off? The part on the doors? do I have to take off the interior part of the door etc... |

There are five rivets that need to be removed from inside the door. Once they're gone you need to use a trim stick to seperate the clips attaching the flare to the door. |
