Post subject:  Just got my rockfather

Ok so i just recieved my RockFather 1 today and it does not have directions. Every thing looks to be self explanitory but i was wondering if there was any thing i need to be aware of while puting the lift on. Any help would be great.

i dont have any suggestions except if you are worried call them and have them email you the directions. may i ask why you chose the rockfather over the other lifts.

Because the price was good, Its basically old man emu springs in the front and poly spacers and doshtech shocks in the rear if i had twice the money i would have gone for the frankinlift.

you'll like it, i have an "almost" Rockfather I believe, I never really found out from my dealer since they had it installed, all they knew was that it came from Rocky Road...anyway...it handles great, feels like a better ride then my stock KJ i used to have (check avatar) and with the larger tires it just seems to hug the roads better...hope all goes well for you with it

Thanks i got the rear on last night and i just got back from getting the 245/75/16 Wrangler Mtrs put on. Is sure is a lot louder but that is no problem for me. Front goes on this evening. The rear end was really easy to put on and it rides just fine. I really does not feel any stiffer. I should have some pics up next week after a weekend of fun.

I also measured the height from the ground to the bottom of the pinch weld in the front and rear and measured it to be about 16 3/4" in front and about 16 1/4" in rear...from what I've seen that might just be about an inch shorter then what the Frankenlift can give you...but I might be wrong...[/img]

Looks great! That's exactly how I envision my silver KJ -- some day.

I'd better start saving $$$.

I have a Rock 1 on my Liberty with the rear poly spacers. I work at a import repair shop in Phoenix and the best advise I can give you is when you get the struts off, take them somewhere to have the springs changed over. The strut press in my shop got the old springs off but didn't have the power to press the new springs on and even I had to take them to a shop that had a more powerful strut press.
God Luck

Ditto to what Jake said. I was driving around for a day and a half with only the rear lift installed cause I could not find anyone to assemble the front struts. Same problem, old crappy compressor at the hobby shop here on base. Then a friend of a friend assembled them for me at Sears auto center. :D Just watch out if you try doin them yourself cause I about took off my wifes head when the top strut plate went flying across the shop.

DesertLove,

How's the Rockfather I working out for you? Under what conditions do you drive with it? How often, and what kind of offroading do you do?

Feel free to PM me if you want.

T.J.

Hey rockymtedition KJ,
Awesome set up. Someday I would like a similar look on my '06 Sport. I was wondering if the Jeep roof rack requires additional cross bars, or are they integrated in the rack?
Sweet ride. I had better save up my $$$ :P

Not from Summit Racing, the roof basket I have is the Mopar available one. It has brackets that mount to the already factory installed rails. The brackets are great too...I plan on mounting my 60" Hi-Lift jack in there once I get it back from a guy at work that borrowed it. The basket works just fine...I've used it a couple of times for large party camping trips...there was actually 5 of us in the KJ and we had all the necessary gear we need in and on the Jeep. There is also a web netting you can buy for this rack from Mopar as well...I just use a bunch of good bungees from AutoZone to hold it all down and it works fine...

No additional cross rails needed for the brackets that came with the Moparr Roof Basket....they attach to the already installed roof rails.
