Come on folks... what's up with the lack of participation??? It's time to get things rolling again... more runs, pay our dues and do the elections so the new officers can chart a course for this upcoming year. I recently found a "group" of four wheelers with only 50 members. They usually do at least one run a month from easy to moderate. The group is not vehicle specific... all makes of 4x4's are welcome although most do drive Jeeps. Many are stock, some lifted although they are not into hardcore trails. A family oriented group with old farts like me down to the younger crowd. Several are single ladies with their own Jeeps!!! Many are fairly new to four wheeling. They have made a trip to Canyon de Chelly and the Cinders in Flagstaff with large turn outs. Many camped out at both locations, some took a RV/Camper others roughed it in tents. Two weeks ago they posted a run for 1-17-09 to Bulldog Canyon (Wells #46). Out of the 50 members, would you believe "21" have signed on?!?!?! Must be something in the water, they usually get a pretty turnout for their runs. Beth and are are meeting up with them tomorrow for the Bulldog Canyon run... I'll post up some pics and my impression of the group when we get back. So AZ LOST... let's get things going again. Beth and I need to get out on the trails. You all are a great bunch of people and not being able to enjoy being with you guys is the pits!!! |

Wasn't a run. A couple of friends and I were looking for some old grave sites and mines for historical purposes. Then we wound up going to Constellation and the mines there. |

All, the officers had a great meeting today to hopefully get everything back on track. As you can see by AJ's post, we are going to start planning at least one club run a month and plan them a few months in advance so everybody has plenty of time to make arrangements. In the next few days more of our meeting plans should be more apparant, to include info on FITS, membership requirements, dues, AZ4WDA info, Trick r Jeep and other club business & events. Let's all try to make this a productive year for the club as a whole. Later, Mike |

I have to admit that after attending last years FITS in Cottonwood and paying my dues again I was pretty disapointed in the year that followed. I have not even been on this board for quite some time. I would like to see things get rolling again. I am up North and am more than willing to plan and host runs up this way (i.e. Flagstaff, Williams, White Mountains.....) I had posted about The Cracks at one time and didn't get much response so I just dropped it. I am a past President and Board member of another Jeep Club and fully understand the difficulties of getting people to attend runs and outings. Chuck |

OAOKJ 2... Yes, last year was a little disappointing but we managed a few runs, most notably Trick R Jeep (great chili) and the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Day Border Run down in Douglas put on by signcutter21. After the run we all attending Douglas' Christmas Parade and went to dinner afterwards. This year, we're going to try and be in the parade if Mike can swing it. I also posted two runs... Canyon de Chelly and Ouray, Co. Russ and Mary joined us on the first trip, the second Beth and I went solo. Make some suggestions or post up a run or two and let's see what happens. Keep in mind that the third weekend of the month we're trying to reserve for the AZ LOST monthly runs. Thanks for your inputs, AJ |

It could of been the economy, gas prices... who knows? But that's all history. This is a new year. Why don't you jump in and help get things going here by joining in some upcoming runs or suggestion some of your own? We have runs scheduled for Jan~Feb~Mar and F.I.T.S. has been rescheduled for April. We're doing a two day run across the Mojave Road in May. One night will be spent on the trail. Please see the threads for each of them. Hope to see you on one or all of them!!! Edit: BTW... is your run into the Grand Canyon on the "secret" trail a VJC thing only? If not, why not suggest it here too AND set a date??? Your thread is 5 pages long and over 2 months old.... |
