I'm planning another trip into the Sierra Ancha Mountains above Roosevelt Lake. There is a vast network of trails up there that are not widely known and being the explorer's we are, another trail is calling. As I said, the trails in the area are not well known. Without giving the location away entirely, here is a general description of where the trail is... The trail we are doing departs about 3/4 the way up 288 on the way to Young. Instead of going south to PB Cabin, we'll take a trail that goes off to the left just past the hairpin turn on a trail we've previously done and swings north to Young. Skids, A/T tires and tow hooks highly recommended. When: Aug 2 '09 Depart: 0830 Meet: Shell Station in Gold Canyon (NW corner of US 60 and Mountainbrook) Trail Length: 16 miles from the trail head to Young This will be an all day trip due to it's distance from Phoenix to the junction of Hwy 188 and 288. At the end of the trail, we'll stop for a burger at Antler's Cafe before taking 288 back to civilization. Who's going: AZKJ +1 |

YUCK!!!!!! Passing this one- Jeep fixing time- got my rewire project for rear ABS ,speed sensors,and fuel tank-- I'll be pulling wires and such Also working on AZ pinstipeing clearing-- Roland |

Bumping this back to the top. I found 6 possible primitive camp sites I want to check out. They run along side of Cherry Creek, and might make for a good overnighter when the weather cools down. Who's going: AZKJ +1 Maybe: Silverdiesel |
