It looks like someone might be able to get a set of replacement headers and exhaust if you can spare your KJ for two weeks...

JBA is looking for an 02-05 Jeep Liberty 3.7L in the San Diego area.

Here is the link to the web site:

I really hope someone can do this. I've been wanting headers for years now. Of course, my Libby is heavily modified, and I'm in KY, so I can't do it.

When they say unmodified do they mean the whole vehicle or just intake and exhaust? I have a K&N FIPK and then a lift, skid and BB's?

Can't hurt to ask...

If you still have the stock air box you might have to put it back on.

Post this in the General Discussion forum so that somebody hops on this. If it goes well, we may see new headers and more power/gas for the KJ!

JBA has been thinking about this for almost a year. I've seen them post at least one query here and also over on JeepForum.com. Here are the details they emailed me after I responded to their JeepForum post:

Hi David,

Sorry it took a while for me to get back to you. JBA is developing new
performance headers and exhaust systems for the 3.7L Jeeps. We are looking
for a local candidate vehicle that is completely stock and available for
approximately 2 weeks. In exchange for use of the vehicle you would receive
new JBA products installed by JBA for your Liberty. During the two week
period, JBA would be prototype products on your Jeep. Once the development
is complete, your Jeep would be returned to you in stock form so that we
could tool-up for the new products to be manufactured (about 30-45 days).
Once the final production pieces are completed we would then have you come
back to our facility to have the new products installed at no charge.

If you are interested in participating - please write back and we will get
you in the schedule. Thanks for writing in.

why wouldn't they just rent a KJ local, that way they can just use it as long as they need to and with a rental, you could go beat on it without regret!

Really. I would think that the cost of a rental for a week would about equal out the cost of an exhaust that they will supply later to the owner. Maybe they are just trying to drum up some publicity at the same time by involving a local who will then spread the word about thier product.

On the other hand can u see returning a rental after 2 weeks and the guy notices there are no miles on it!?

I signed on for something similar, through AEM. They were creating a new intake for the 04+.
After a week of devolpement, (during that time they rented a car for me)
and months of waiting to hear back from them they decided not to make the intake system, citing low customer response. In the end they gave me a 03 intake. They were nice though.

If you had a second vehicle it would be cool. I wish I was in Cali, I would be there in no time!

Ya bringing it back without mile would be funny! But I bet they would be racking up some dyno miles and a few good burnouts in the parking lot! I mean if it was my shop!
