Well I wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for a bad job at a Chrysler dealer! My little Liberty just Died only going 10 mph so didn't know much about a diesel and hauled it to the dealer! It sit there for a week and we called and called . They told us the labor rate to tear into it was 108.00 per hr. said it would be $350.00 just to tear it down. After taking it apart said the timing had slipped and needed a new timing belt BUT they think it has internal damage to the valves. Wanted another 1000.00 to go deeper . I talked to another dealer and there Mechnice said to just retime it and put a new belt on and see it it would run first. Here is we're it gets in a heck of a mess! He didn't know what he was doing and put it back out of time. I realize he didn't know anymore than me so I picked it up and brought it home.
Retimed it and now it starts and runs only for 5-10 seconds and just dies. That's what it did the day it quit. Anyone have any idea's?

Questions:

1. Current miles?
2. Fuel filter changed ?
3. Dose it have a 2nd gen fuel head?
4. When you say it starts and only runs for 5 to 10 seconds, dose it sound smooth or ruff?

If its smooth you may have a fuel problem. If ruff? Do a suck - blow dollar bill check. Remove the intake hose on the drivers side where it attaches to intake. Try to start. If the intake is blowing and popping you jumped time or broke rockers. Its going to cost you some Dollars.
