I just bought my first jeep and am having buyers remorse. That will go once I get familiar with diesels. I own a 2005 2.8L CRD Limited with 94000 on the clock. I have not idea of the past owners maintenance habits so I will get busy tomorrow with filter changes, oil change, elephant mod, etc. I bought it as is and hope I dont have a lemon. On the way home as soon as I filled the tank I got a engine trouble light. I had the codes pulled by a mechanic I am afraid I will become very familiar with. The codes are P0299 and E0401. Any ideas? I entered my VIN and unless I am misreading it, the dealer will install a factory hitch to protect the fuel tank from a rear end collision. Does this make sense for a diesel vehicle?

Loads of info on site and I am sure eventually I will feel a little more confident in my diesel knowledge.
