Just FYI, most people here would advise you to stick with an '05 rather than the 06, because the '06 has ESP, traction control, and a ton of other driving nannies standard that most do not like.

Hello all I'm planning to purchase my first Jeep at the beginning of September. What Jeep your asking? A KJ of course. 05-06, Renegade or Limited probably. Anything I should keep an eye out for when shopping for one? I plan on sticking to Jeep dealers so I can get a Chrysler Certified KJ. Great forum btw, lots of useful info

Yeah, if I had had a choice between the CRD and a Rennie 6-speed, both 4x4 with similar miles and options, I would have been hard-pressed too. I love to row my own gears, as opposed to a slushbox. However, being able to brew my own fuel when the world ends would have to win out. . . Not sure what the transfer case is called, but it has 2wd, 4wd Part-time, 4wd Full-Time (similar to AWD) and 4wd Low range.

I don't think I will be going down muddy hills. The most I will be doing is driving through a farmer's field or driving down gravel/muddy trail with no inclines. Yeah I found the 06 brochure un pdf format and all CRDs have selec-trac.
