Wednesday I picked up my first Jeep: 2007 KJ Latitude - Stock for now. I have been waiting over 30 years to do it!
After picking it up, the wife and I went to dinner and after that she wanted to take it to show her mom, so I said sure. One hour and 48 minutes after driving it off of the car lot I received a phone call from my wife and she says: A bus just took out the entire rear end! My heart sank.

I get it home and start looking it over. I found that the left rear turn signal is gone, but I have pieces and tape: I can rebuild it to make it legal for the road until the insurance can get it fixed.
I got the light all back together and all the plastic pieces tucked in and where it belongs and the only thing wrong are the scuff marks in the paint. I'm driving it! I had to find the closet dirt road just to get it dirty. Today it was a trip to the insurance adjuster: $2000 damage. I am going to have fun with this thing!
What are the first things I need to consider? I don't plan on doing any serious rock crawling, but I don't want to accidentally damage anything, so skid plates are first on my list. What's next?
