Hi all, name's Matt. I'm a first time Jeep owner. The little lady wanted it, said it was cute and the price was right ($5,000 at 60K) plus it's a manual so I couldn't pass it by. Not sure how I feel about the IFS up front but I don't plan on pushing this little thing terribly too much. My goal is to build it up a bit so that it feels more capable (and looks it too). So far I've got a 3" lift, OME springs and shocks all around, and some BFG A/Ts (245/70s). I'm thinking of sticking a locker in that rear end and maybe receivers front and back to cart around a winch, just in case. I'll probably armor the underside some too. Looking to learn as much as possible and contribute if possible, it's a real pleasure to read this site. Thanks all.

Thanks so much for the welcomes! Well, I am glad I went with OME for my lift but looks like I'm going to have to dig deep here because I'm all over the road on the freeway and I've got some loose clumpy noises somewhere under my driver side rear seat. Probably the wheel well and therefore maybe that shock mount. Not going to put my 2 year old in this thing til I at least figure out the nasty bump steer and squirly-ness. Yikes, please tell me this isn't normal for such a modest lift. I'm off to search the archives. Sure am glad this site, and thus, you guys exist. Thanks again!

P.S. Rocky Road seems not to want to contrubute much in the advice department now that they've got their money. Anybody know anyone good in the So. Cal. area?

Welcome! :JEEPIN:

You need to make sure everything is tight after the lift was installed and an alignment asap. A good alignment will fix your squirley steering.

Thanks DirtyKK. I had 4wheel parts do the alignment after they installed the tires. Sounds like I probably should have taken it over to an alignment specialist instead. I'll definitely do that asap. Thanks again!
